As the world’s largest aircraft carrier in the world’s dominant navy, the USS Gerald R. Ford is gargantuan. The aircraft carrier took eight years to build, several more years to test, and is large enough to tower over the biggest building in plenty of large towns. Named for the 38th President of the United States, the Gerald Ford is the lead ship of the US navy. It clocks in at over 1,000ft or nearly three American football fields in length, and nearly 250 feet high. Contained in that massive space, the aircraft carrier also has a whopping 25 decks. The massive ship, which can house over 4,500 people and carry over 75 aircraft, is powered by two nuclear reactors, and fully-loaded, weighs in at over 100,000 tonnes. That makes her the largest warship ever constructed. The total building cost is estimated at over 17 billion dollars, including 5 billion spent on research alone. When Iran flew a drone over a US aircraft carrier. On January 12th 2016, an Iranian surveillance drone was spotted over the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and the USS Harry S. Trueman CVN-75, according to a report from the US Navy's 5th Fleet. The activity on the deck is clearly seen in this video, which Iranian official TV aired on January 29. According to the commander of the Iranian Navy, the drone overflight demonstrated the country's "readiness and bravery." Now, don't you think it's bad for the U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier to have an enemy drone flying over it? Well, a helicopter took off immediately to check the drone and discovered that it wasn't armed. The U.S. fifth fleet claimed that the Iranian U.A.V's actions did not endanger the carrier. The U.S. Navy rejected the footage aired by Iranian state TV saying, the video shows nothing that can not already be seen on many maritime videos available online. This US LASER Aircraft Carrier Is Ready To Beat China The Gerald Ford is 1,105 feet long compared to the Nimitz's 1,092. The waterline width, is almost the same, 134 feet. The displacement is the same as the ton - 98425 tons for both ships. However, if you look closely, you will notice that the silhouettes of the ships are somewhat different. The Gerald Ford's deckhouse is located closer to the stern and the bridge is not visible. It is located on the lower deck to reduce the size of the superstructure. The superstructure is located over the sideline. This made the deck more spacious. But that's not why the CVN-78 costs twice as much as any other aircraft carrier! No, of course, it isn't. It's all about the stuffing.

According to war game simulations run by a team of Chinese military planners, hypersonic weapons would destroy the largest and most expensive vessel in the U.S. Navy with “certainty.” In a series of more than 20 digitally simulated battles, Chinese forces sank the USS Gerald R. Ford and its accompanying carrier battle group using a three-wave attack of 24 hypersonic anti-ship missiles. Over the course of the simulation, out of the six American vessels in the fleet, the Chinese military had an average destruction rate of 5.6 ships. The war game also demonstrated that one of the Chinese hypersonic missile models had a range of over 2,000 miles. The missile could sink a carrier or large warship with just two hits, and it holds a success rate of 90%. US INSANE LASER Aircraft Carrier Is Finally Ready For Action The USS Gerald Ford Supercarrier, for instance, with 100,000 tons of displacement and a price tag of $13 billion, stands as the largest, most expensive, most intimidating, and most lethal aircraft carrier ever built. The Supercarrier packs more airpower than the entire air forces of at least 60 nations, it can run for 25 years without refuelling, and it is protected by an endless inventory of in-built defenses along with an armada of 10+ cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and submarines. Yet, if China’s hypersonic missiles are even half as powerful as is reported, the USS Gerald Ford could be destroyed in one strike. To defend its fleet against possible attacks from Chinese hypersonic missiles, the US Navy has now spent hundreds of millions of dollars developing a weapon that strikes so quickly, it makes hypersonic missiles look slow. This is the laser weapon, designed to be integrated into aircraft carriers and other ships, this is America’s response to China.
