I am currently a second-year PA student on my family medicine rotation. In this video I will be taking you through a day in the life of a Family Medicine PA Student on clinical rotations. My hours at the clinic were about 8:30am - 8:00pm Monday through Friday. I gained so much experience from this rotation with history taking, physical exams skills, differential diagnosis and treatment plans. I was even able to get hands on experience with blood draws, EKGs, pap smears, breast exams, spirometry, and H. Pylori breath tests. Upon completion of this rotation, I can finally say something "clicked". I feel way more confident to see patients on my own then ever before! So grateful for this experience. Excited to see what the rest of my rotations in PA school will bring. Be sure to follow my journey by subscribing! Please like and leave a comment if you enjoyed this video! Welcome back to my channel! The following video is the end of rotation exam review for family medicine. The family medicine blueprint is 5 pages long! There is 1 more video that accompanies this part 1. The link is below for part 2. I wanted to ensure I included everything from the blueprint in addition to other diseases I encountered that were tested on when I took this EOR. The cardiovascular portion is by far the longest portion, so I spent a longer time talking about cardiology because it is HIGHLY tested on the PANCE and this EOR. I have attached the timestamps below: 00:00 - How I studied for the Family Medicine EOR exam 06:14 - Cardiovascular system 03:04:56 - Pulmonology 04:24:28 - Gastrointestinal 07:23:03 - EENT 09:08:57 - OBGYN As always if there are any mistakes, please comment below. Also, feel free to share any useful mnemonics you may have for certain diseases or medications that can help other students out! Also, please share feedback on this video! So you want to be a family medicine doctor. You like the idea of primary care, working with patients of all age ranges, and like Vin Diesel, you don't have friends, you got family. Let's debunk the public perception myths, and give it to you straight. This is the reality of family medicine. Family medicine is the center of primary care, the generalists of generalists. Unlike other specialties that are limited to a particular organ, disease, or age range, family physicians treat the broadest range of ailments and patients, from newborns to seniors, and everything between. After medical school, family medicine residency is 3 years. It's categorical, meaning you match into one program and complete all three years there, including your intern year. If you're the medical student who went through third year and loved everything non-surgical and didn't want to give any of it up, including not only organ systems but also age, then family medicine may be a good fit for you. As a medical student I was frequently confronted by "advice" from other students, online influencers and even doctors who would tell me not to get into family medicine because they're underpaid, over worked and under appreciated. Its been a stereotype that's definitely made its way into popular medical culture with videos by Dr. Glaucomflecken and others highlighting some of the concerns about the specialty. But is this really the case, or are the statistics a bit more nuanced? Today we'll be looking at the truth about family medicine as a specialty and talking about some of the process and cons for perspective med school students, residents and physicians considering the specialty as a profession. ⏳ Time Stamps Intro: 0:00 - 1:17 The Current Family Medicine (FM) Crisis: 1:18 - 2:10 The TRUTH (FM pay): 2:11 - 4:21 The TRUTH (being overworked): 4:22 - 6:33 The TRUTH (it's boring?): 6:34 - 9:25 The TRUTH (prestige): 9:26 - 12:32 Outro: 12:33 - 14:50 #doctor #medicalstudent #residency Bio: Hi everyone, its nice to meet you 🤙 My name Is Gianluca and I'm a first year family medicine resident physician at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
