Approach and landing on runway 25R of Barcelona El Prat International Airport in Spain. (BCN /LEBL). Airbus A320 cockpit view from the captains seat. With ATC (air traffic control) audio. Produced in 4k. On this nice day, we had to fly a "transition route" for traffic sequencing before landing at the airport. We passed the airport of Girona and flew directly toward the city of Barcelona, but the prescribed arrival transition turned us away from the city and the airport of Barcelona. We had to fly via several navigation points which are located along the Mediterranean coastline before we got radar vectors from ATC for the final approach to runway 25R. Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport opened already in 1918. Now it consists of 3 runways: 25R/07L, 25L/07R and 02/20. Most of the time, 25R/07L is used for landings and 25L/07R for takeoffs. A really nice approach and landing in Barcelona (BCN / LEBL) with some great views over Barcelona, on board a British Airways 737. With the French ATC strikes causing delays, we arrived 1 hour 40 minutes behind schedule. PLEASE READ: With our detour around France giving us an extra hour in the air, it gave us plenty of time to enjoy our flight on this aircraft! The service and crew were fantastic and the pilots were nice and friendly, allowing us into the cockpit at the end of our flight. Whilst the delay wasn't so bad on our outbound flight, our return flight that evening was delayed by 5 hours and after spending around 7 hours in Terminal 1 at Barcelona airport, we arrived back at Gatwick at 4am the next morning rather than 23:10 which was our scheduled arrival time. Terminal 1 is very nice though in Barcelona! Der Anflug nach Barcelona war schön entlang der Küste. Bis kurz vor Barcelona war es noch recht wolking, aber etwas nördlich der Stadt waren dann die Wolken weg. The approach to Barcelona was nicely along the coast line. Shortly before Barcelona it was still cloudy, but a bit north of the city all clouds were gone.

This was one of my first flights after the lock-down we had during spring and early summer 2020. It was a very comfortable flight with, sadly, not a lot of passengers, as we could expect. The views of Barcelona after departure and all the Brussels area during approach were just amazing. During landing, when the airplane was touching down and decelerating, one passenger decided it was a good moment to stand up and start looking for his luggage! Of course, that triggered the senior Cabin Crew to tell him to sit down immediately. This was the first time I've seen such behaviour in more than 600 flights I've done. Last week I went on a trip to Barcelona to spot at the airport of El Prat! The main reason I went there was because there was a Qantas Boeing 747 scheduled to come in operating a charter flight. The Australian Queen of the Skies is a iconic aircraft, which featured the famous Nalanji and Wunala Dreaming liveries. Every year Qantas flies a group of lucky (and rich) passengers around the world on a world tour. This year Malta and Barcelona were the European places which would be visited during this tour. I've already been to Malta so I thought I'd try out Barcelona and catch the Qantas B747 there. And so I did, along with many Spanish spotters who welcomed the plane into Barcelona! It was VH-OEE which did the honors and landed on runway 25R from Malta. A few days later it departed to Cartagena via runway 25L where I filmed from an incredible spot, enjoying the Queen lining up with the runway and spooling up its four General Electric CF6 engines for a powerful take off!. During my trip to Barcelona I've been helped by a local spotter called Miguel, who goes as Barcelona El Prat Intl or aerobarcelona on Youtube with amazing content from Barcelona's airport. He filmed the Qantas landing too from a different spot than me, and we made a little collab using eachothers footage in our video's!
