Nous avons retrouvé des appels téléphoniques. Voici leur enregistrement. 🤍 🤍 🤍 Avec Juliette Lamboley, Timothée Hochet et Élise Godeau. Musique : 🤍 A lire après avoir vu la vidéo : Un soir, j'ai partagé mon idée à Norman : je voulais faire un court métrage sans images. Seulement du son. Je voulais montrer que l'imagination est plus forte que tout. C'était il y'a 8 mois. A la base, Calls était une série de petits épisodes avec chacun une histoire d'angoisse différente. Les épisodes se reliaient seulement par le fait qu'ils se déroulaient lors de la même soirée. Ils témoignaient da la fin du monde. En lisant la série en entier, je me suis dit qu'il manquait quelque chose. J’enchaînais les situations inquiétantes mais il n'y avait pas vraiment d'histoire, de personnage. J'ai donc décidé de regrouper tout et d'en faire un seul et même court métrage, avec une petit histoire d'amour en guise de fil rouge. Ainsi, on ressent peut-être + d'émotions. Une fois le projet écrit, il ne suffisait plus qu'à "tourner". Je pensais sincèrement que ça allait être la partie la plus simple. Mais j'étais bien con. Il fallait tout d'abord trouver un casting, des anglophones et des voix qui se distinguent bien. Il fallait que Laura et Lucie soient identifiables seulement par la voix, par exemple. Le tournage s'est déroulé sur plusieurs mois. Ce n'était pas vraiment un tournage : on demandait aux comédiens de s'enregistrer par téléphone et de nous envoyer les fichiers. Puis je faisais des retours, et ils recommençaient, et ainsi de suite ... Une fois tous les rushs définitifs, la partie la plus longue commença : le montage sonore. Il y'a aucune image, et donc aucun rythme, aucun mouvement de caméra, aucune expression faciale. Il faut donner le rythme adéquat. Au départ, nous enchaînions les phrases sans pause. Mais nous nous sommes rendons compte qu'il fallait de l'air entre les mots, les répliques, pour donner un vrai rythme naturel. Etant donné que les comédiens n'étaient pas en face, il fallait choisir la bonne réplique qui correspondait à la réponse du personnage à l'autre bout du fil. C'est aussi pour cela que j'ai choisi de faire le personnage principal. Car je savais qu'il allait falloir réenregistrer un nombre incalculable de fois les prises, et tenter différents ton selon les répliques de l'autre perso. Une fois le montage sonore fini (et bordel, on a galéré pour trouver le bon rythme), j'ai dit à Norman mes intentions au niveau du son. J'ai regardé beaucoup de véridiques appels 911 sur Youtube et j'ai tendu l'oreille. La qualité est affreuse, on ne comprend presque pas ce qu'ils disent, il y'a beaucoup de bruit. Le fait que l'on entende cette sorte de brouhaha étrange met dans une ambiance 3x plus inquiétante et réaliste. C'est donc ces références que je lui ai donné. On allait crader au maximum les prises son, tout en les rendant un minimum intelligibles. Je voulais aussi que la qualité se détériore au fur et à mesure que les évènements se produisent. Ainsi, au début, nous avons seulement deux voix avec un effet "téléphone". Puis petit à petit, nous avons des sons d'ambiance rajoutés (à partir de la scène du 911), et ils vont être de plus en plus présents. C'est aussi ce que je voulais avec la musique. Je voulais que la musique apparaisse au bon moment. Au moment où on se dit "Ok, il se passe quelque chose d'étrange". Elle suit tout le long du court métrage jusqu'à la dernière scène. Elle accompagne le court métrage, ses différents personnages et les évènements, comme la musique de Jon Brion dans Magnolia de Paul Thomas Anderson (mon film préféré). Voilà tout. J'espère que vous avez apprécié l’expérience. Mon but était aussi d'avoir des retours de ce que votre imaginaire a inventé, en écoutant le film. Donc n'hésitez pas.
